why we exist.

How did you learn about investing?

Probably the same way everyone does, as a list of things you could put money into. Real estate, heavy on the boomers. Stocks. Crypto. The list goes on and on, and then the feed took over: more data, more stories, more "signals," more guys in Lamborghinis with ferrets.

Some of it is good. Most of it is noise. And even the good stuff only ever answers what's out there, it never touches the question you're actually asking, which is what do I do with my money?

Here's what nobody put in the curriculum. We chase winners, we freeze on losers, and we follow crowds we can't even see, and we do all of it while feeling completely rational the entire time. Reading about that doesn't fix it, you'll nod along, recognize yourself in the description, and then do it again on Monday. Feeling it happen to you, live, with the receipts in front of you, is a different thing entirely. That one sticks.

The biggest risk in your portfolio was never the market. It's the person holding the phone.

So that's where we start: not with what to buy, but with the wiring of the person buying. We're called Forbidden Markets because society does a shit job of teaching any of this, let alone teaching you about you.

a note from the founder.

I don't have all the answers, but I'm obsessed with asking better questions about how people think, decide, and invest. Forbidden Markets is my attempt to explore those questions, and, ultimately, create 8 billion Mungers.
